RPS recognises excellent LloydsPharmacy training

I’m immensely proud of LloydsPharmacy’s ever-expanding European Pharmacy Network (EPN) stores. They showcase the future of pharmacy for the company, bringing customer-focused service together with a fresh store design.

But the EPN concept is much more than a simple repackaging of our old-style LloydsPharmacy stores: it also includes a comprehensive training programme.

We recently heard that several modules of this EPN development programme have been accredited by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS). Combining distance learning and off-site development days, this training aims to develop the capability of our pharmacists and support staff colleagues.

The RPS’ recognition of our skincare, pain management and customer experience learning modules is credit to our learning and development team. These modules are key to our EPN concept, so to know that they meet the rigorous standards of our sector body is fantastic.

Let’s not forget our customers, though. After all, being able to provide expert advice in-pharmacy is why we are investing time and effort onto training our colleagues. Having the RPS’ stamp of approval gives us the reassurance that we are giving colleagues the right skills to deliver high quality care to patients.

We plan to transform another 200 LloydsPharmacy stores by the end of 2015 – meaning that around a third of our stores will be EPN branches. Our updated pharmacy network is not expanding by itself: we must continue to grow the skills of our colleagues to take this forward. Earning this RPS accreditation tells me that we are on the right track.
