New Lloydspharmacy concept wins top industry award in Ireland: 28 May 2013

LloydsPharmacy owner, Celesio AG, has received the highest recognition for its European Pharmacy Network (EPN) concept by the industry in Ireland. LloydsPharmacy, Dublin, has made a huge impact since opening in April and has now been named OTC Retailer of the Year at the prestigious Irish Pharmacy Awards.

 The LloydsPharmacy branded concept was launched in the UK in December with 12 stores currently operating across the country. A further 60 pharmacies are scheduled to be transformed before the end of the year. 

 Led by Germany-based Celesio AG, the EPN approach to community health has been developed to improve patient access to healthcare information and support, as well as provide efficient management solutions to pharmacies. The concept is being rolled-out to the company’s 2,200 own pharmacies across Europe and is also being offered to independent pharmacies as a complete package or separate modules.

 Commenting on the Irish Pharmacy Award, Cormac Tobin, managing director of Celesio UK, said: “This is a fantastic achievement by the team in Dublin and a great endorsement for the European Pharmacy Network programme. I believe EPN is going to revolutionise community pharmacy in the UK. With EPN we’ve created positive environments with strong service and product offerings – we’re giving communities what they want. It’s still early days for the rollout so to gain industry recognition so soon is very encouraging.”

 As part of the EPN transformation, pharmacies offer free, enhanced services for a range of conditions including skin health and pain management.

 Innovative technology has also been introduced to provide customers with personalised skin health information. Many of the stores now offer a digital skin analyser along with touch-screen tablets that provide condition and product information.
