272 Lloyds pharmacies across Scotland and Wales are now supporting the NHS COVID-19 lateral flow device distribution service by offering free access to tests.
To continue to help keep everyone safe and reduce transmission of the virus, high street pharmacy chain, LloydsPharmacy has extended its support for the NHS COVID-19 lateral flow device distribution service across its pharmacies in Scotland and Wales.
The Pharmacy Collect service, which first went live in England on 29th March is now available UK-wide at 1296 of their 1400 community pharmacies, and provides an additional route to regular testing, making it easier and more convenient for people without COVID-19 symptoms to access testing twice weekly.
Anna Ruthven, Head of Services at McKesson UK, parent company of LloydsPharmacy, said:
“We’re really pleased to be continuing our work with the NHS to offer local communities in Scotland and Wales access to lateral flow tests. 1 in 3 people with coronavirus don’t have symptoms but can still pass the virus on which is why regular testing is key to us stopping the spread of the virus and breaking the chain of transmission. With new variants emerging, it’s essential we continue to do all that we can to contribute to the nationwide fight against COVID-19. Community pharmacies are highly valued among the public and we hope that by now offering this service to people in Scotland and Wales we can help play an important part in widening access and expanding capacity, providing both protection and reassurance to our customers and patients.”
The free lateral flow tests that provide a rapid result within 30 minutes, are suitable for those who do not have coronavirus symptoms, but are looking for peace of mind and provide quick, reliable results for people who require a test for work or personal reasons.
Customers are now able to order and collect a box of seven rapid tests to use at home from 191 LloydsPharmacy stores in Scotland and 81 stores in Wales.
