The LloydsPharmacy team from Baglan Resource Centre in Port Talbot have been crowned winners at the Welsh Pharmacy Awards. They received the Community Pharmacy Practice award during a ceremony held at the Vale Resort, Glamorgan.
Commenting on her team’s achievement, Debra Hughes, pharmacy manager at Port Talbot, said: “We’re all delighted to have won this award. To be one of the best community pharmacies in Wales is an extraordinary achievement. We know how important the services that we offer the community are so to be recognised as one of the leaders of these is fantastic.”
The team were commended for the services they offer, most notably their Stop Smoking service with the pharmacy having one of the best quit rates in the area. The team also delivered more flu vaccinations than any other LloydsPharmacy based in Wales last year.
Kate Taylor, regional manager for Port Talbot, said: “Port Talbot has been one of the best pharmacies in the local area for over a decade and has provided their community with a main point of care in Port Talbot. They have created a fantastic atmosphere within the pharmacy, welcoming patients and making them feel relaxed.”
The team at LloydsPharmacy, which is based on Moor Road, can also provide diabetes and blood pressure checks, as well as providing advice on medication management, pain and conditions like asthma.
