Kate Taylor, a Lloydspharmacy pre-registration graduate working at the Strawberry place pharmacy in Swansea, has been awarded pre-registration Graduate of the Year.
Kate was presented with the award after being nominated by other graduates on the Lloydspharmacy pre-registration training programme for her particularly outstanding work.
Commenting on her win Kate said: “It was a big shock to win, especially since all of the Lloydspharmacy students this year seemed exceptional to me.
“During my pre-registration year, I set up a social networking group for fellow students to keep in touch and support each other, which might have counted towards my win.
“I have really loved my pre-registration year and can see myself developing my career with Lloydspharmacy now that I’m fully qualified.”
Awards were also presented to other highly commended pre-registration graduates who achieved exceptional feedback from their peers and tutors. Second place was awarded to Matthew Stibbs from the Millbank Lloydspharmacy branch in Staffordshire and third prize went to Ryan Smyth, from the Milton Road Lloydspharmacy branch in Hampshire.
Kate and her fellow successful graduates will now take up positions as relief pharmacy managers and pharmacy managers at one of Lloydspharmacy’s 1,500 pharmacies across the UK.
Karan Paige, HR Director at Celesio UK said: “Many congratulations to Kate on her award. As always our preregistration graduates performed to very high standards making competition for the prize tough.
“We are delighted that so many of our preregistration graduates have been successful in gaining their General Pharmaceutical Council qualification with our pass rate coming in above the national average.
“With large scale changes altering the landscape of the UK healthcare system these pharmacists are the future of primary care services in their communities.”
“From in-store training to off the job development courses and an assigned tutor, Lloydspharmacy pre-registration graduates are supported throughout their training to give them the best start to their professional careers.”
Lloydspharmacy is happy to accept applications from graduates and is always interested to hear from experienced pharmacists from community pharmacy and secondary care who may be looking to develop their career. Applications for the dedicated pre-registration programme are taken from January to June (2015/2016 applications will be open from January 2014).
