John Bell & Croyden, in partnership with DocTap Private GP, are now offering a ‘Fit to Fly’ service – a medical certificate that gives confirmation by a doctor that you are able to fly after testing negative for COVID-19.
The quick and convenient service has been launched in response to the number of airlines now requiring passengers to produce evidence of a recent negative COVID-19 test prior to flying.
The PHE approved PCR Test and Fitness to Fly service is being run in partnership with private GP service DocTap and guarantees results back within 70 hours.
Upon arrival customers will be greeted at a dedicated check-in counter and, for an additional fee, the test will be carried out by a trained practitioner in full PPE. There is also an option for people to do their own test– full instructions are included in the test kit and private booth facilities are available.
Taking just 60 seconds, the test will then be sent directly to the laboratory for analysis by courier. Results and the Fitness to Travel certificate will be emailed within 70 hours of receipt of the sample. The test shows a minimum sensitivity of 98% and a specificity of 100%.
The Fitness to Fly assessment will show the date and time at which the sample was taken. It will also show the date at which the results were reviewed. Should the results be positive the person will be contacted immediately, and they would be required to self-isolate.
Alexander Johnston, General Manager at John Bell & Croyden, said: “We understand that a number of airlines require passengers to produce evidence of a recent negative COVID-19 test prior to flying which is why we wanted to make it as easy as possible. Our in-store service gives access to the fastest possible results in a safe manner allowing them to prove to an airline that they are fit to travel. Results will be emailed on DocTap headed document signed by an NHS trained UK General Medical Council (GMC) doctor.”
The cost of the Test and Fitness to Travel certificate is £139. Practitioner led testing carries an additional fee of £15.
