Double win for LloydsPharmacy Pre-registration Graduate of the Year

This year’s LloydsPharmacy Pre-registration Graduate of the Year won the same category at the Chemist & Druggist Awards earlier this year.

Niusha Shekarian, a LloydsPharmacy Pre-registration graduate working at the Wood Green pharmacy in London, was awarded Pre-registration Graduate of the Year after being nominated by other graduates on the LloydsPharmacy training programme for her exceptional work.

Commenting on becoming LloydsPharmacy Pre-registration Graduate of the Year, Niusha said: “I was in absolute shock to be honest, complete shock. I wasn’t expecting it so it was great. It’s very nice to be recognised, and winning these awards has made me feel like my hard work has paid off.”

As part of her Pre-registration year, Niusha played an integral role in her pharmacy by improving relations with her store’s local surgery and liaising with them to make changes to patient’s medications. She also held outreach clinics, became a smoking cessation advisor and flu vaccination champion.

Awards were also presented to other highly commended Pre-registration graduates who achieved exceptional feedback from their peers and tutors. Second place was awarded to Faseeha Hussain from the Tilehurst pharmacy in Reading, and third place went to David Pemberton, from the Marston Road pharmacy in Middlesborough.

“I’ve met so many different people and I’ve had a lot of support during the course of the year. Having finished my Pre-registration year, there are a lot of career pathway options open to me within LloydsPharmacy and I know I will be supported throughout,” Niusha concluded.

Niusha and her fellow successful graduates will now take up positions as relief pharmacy managers and pharmacy managers at LloydsPharmacy’s 1,600 pharmacies across the UK.

Karan Paige, HR Director at Celesio UK said: “We are extremely proud of what Niusha has achieved during her Pre-registration year. As well as winning the Chemist & Druggist Pre-registration Graduate of the Year award, she has also fought off fierce competition to be named LloydsPharmacy Pre-registration Graduate of the Year.

“We are pleased that so many of our Pre-registration graduates have achieved their General Pharmaceutical Council qualification with our pass rate once again coming in above the national average.

“The Pre-registration training programme is exceedingly important to LloydsPharmacy; as qualified pharmacists are the future of primary care services in their communities, and they must be equipped with the right tools to help with the challenges currently facing the UK healthcare system.”

LloydsPharmacy Pre-registration graduates are supported throughout their year-long training by an assigned tutor, receiving in-pharmacy training, as well as attending off-site development days to provide them with the skills to give them the best start to their professional careers.
